Requirements, Design Patterns, Cloud Architecture... Oh My
In this session, we’ll navigate through a typical real-world architecture of a solution and consider the decisions that we may wish to make at various stages. Alongside that, we’ll factor in how requirements and design patterns can help influence our overall design.

The schools are back and so are we! After a hiatus because we've been doing some levelling up, we're back with the awesome Simon Prickett from Redis!
Simon Prickett is the Developer Advocacy Manager at Redis, Inc. He enjoys projects that fuse hardware and software, especially with Arduino and Raspberry Pi. Simon brings experience gained from living and working on three different continents in industries including banking, logistics, IoT and Software as a Service platform development. Find him online at https://simonprickett.dev
Simon is joining us to give an introduction to Redis and Redis Streams, a talk suitable for all levels!
Often thought of as a cache, there’s so much more to Redis. Simon will show you how to add Redis to your stack to improve performance, synchronize communications between distributed systems and even save you from writing lots of code. We'll start with an introduction to Redis, look at some common use cases, then focus on the Stream data type with code examples in various programming languages.

Host: Notts Techfast
This talk will be online only via Zoom. Anyone who sets themselves to "attending" will get details of how to dial in closer to the time. Any questions please get in touch.
About the Talk
In this session Chris Love will walk through his observations on why data initiatives often fail and why, increasingly, he sees "data culture" as being a key factor in the success of such initiatives.
Drawing on his practical experience working with organisations across a range of sectors Chris will discuss what it means to have a successful data culture and why you should care about it. His talk will focus on five areas of a data culture: Trust, Talent, Sharing, Commitment and Mindset, and share tips and advice on what works and what to avoid.
About the Speaker
Chris Love is a Tableau and Alteryx Consultant working at The Information Lab.
His role sees him working with clients across Europe helping them see and understand data through data visualisation. Chris is a regular blogger and self confessed data-nerd / data hobbyist, writing about subjects such how bands approach their set lists to the data behind Dear Diedre, all through a data driven approach. A Tableau Zen Master and Alteryx ACE, Chris had 10 years experience working locally at Experian in data roles before moving to The Information Lab where he works from home in Nottingham.
About Notts Techfast
We're a flock of tech-design-people-centred-coffee loving early birds, who get together once a month to hear a great Nottingham based speaker share their wisdom and chat all things tech over breakfast 🥐🥓🍳☕ <br>
This is a free event for anyone interested in getting up early, regardless of skillset or tech background.
This month we hand control over to … you! The audience takes over in our ever-popular lightning talks event.
Join us on Zoom. The joining link will be published on the night of the event.
A lightning talk is a short talk, under five minutes on whatever subject you wish to speak about (Code of Conduct permitting!). At the start of the session the audience has time to write their talk title on a virtual post-it and those talks make up our evening. If there are too many talks to fit in to the evening, we'll vote on our favourites.
For the audience it's a rapid-fire session where you'll learn loads and gain unique insight into the thoughts, ideas and passions of your peers.
For speakers it's a unique opportunity to speak your mind, try out a talk idea and boost your confidence in front of a friendly crowd. Since the talks are short, the pressure to prep and polish is low and you can focus on key ideas you want to share.
